About me
Anita Jorgensen (IALD, IES, LC, CL) is the founding principal of Anita Jorgensen Lighting Design (AJLD) located in Tribeca, NY, and has been practicing architectural lighting design for over twenty years. Her background in art history and theatrical lighting design brings a strong sense of aesthetics and drama to her lighting design approach. Her hands-on experience gained from extensive exhibition lighting design work translates into specifications for lighting systems which are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are innovative, easily maintained, and are durable. Anita began her lighting career in theatre and quickly moved into architectural lighting design when she began working for Fisher Marantz Stone for several years. From there she spent a number of years working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Design Department lighting both temporary, as well as permanent installations. Currently, AJLD works on both exhibitions, as well as large capital projects for the Morgan Library & Museum, The Frick Collection, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the New York Public Library main branch, as well as on a broad range of project types. Anita holds a BA in Art History & Fine Arts from CUNY Hunter College, and an MFA from New York University. Anita’s teaching experience includes “Lighting Principles in Architecture” at Parsons School of Design, and she gives an annual art lighting seminar for the School of Visual Art’s Curatorial MFA program, and has been a guest speaker for Designer’s Lighting Forum NY, LEDucation NY, DesignxNYC, and Open House New York. AJLD has won numerous awards most recently for MANITOGA / The Russel Wright Design Center’s new Design Gallery, The Silver Vault gallery at the Wadsworth Museum of Art, the gallery relighting for the newly refurbished Frick Collection, NY, and Touro University’s Lobby at 3 Times Square.
