Behind the Light: An Immersive Lighting & Controls Experience

Immersive Experience @ ArchLIGHT Summit Show Floor

Step inside two immersive environments and experience lighting design from both sides of the ceiling. Behind the Light explores how lighting, controls, and integration work together to shape the way people experience and interact with a space.

In a patient room, participants will experience how layered lighting, dimming, motorized shading, and different control strategies can respond to rest, reading, clinical examination, and nighttime care. In a conference room, a hands-on comparison of linear luminaires demonstrates how aperture, optics, shielding, and viewing position influence glare and visual comfort.

Then, the experience goes behind the light. With controls equipment and wiring intentionally exposed, participants can trace how a simple user action moves through sensors, digital communications, contact-closure interfaces, control logic, load controllers, and 0–10V dimming before producing a response in the space.

Rather than focusing on individual products, the experience reveals lighting and controls as an integrated architecture, connecting design intent, occupant experience, system communication, and the final behavior of the room.
